Fall technical meeting:
IREA members meet discuss ways to collaborate with INL programs
Members of the INL Retired Employees Association spent a late September afternoon meeting with John Revier, Director of External Engagement and Communications at Idaho National Laboratory (at the podium) and his directors, from left, Sara Prentice, Director of Communications: Jason Stolworthy, Director of Technology Transfer and Jennifer Jackson, K-12 STEM Director.
The discussion focused on efforts in each area of INL and how the INL and retirees can work together to keep retirees abreast of lab efforts and how the retirees can help support the laboratory. IREA leadership will continue to meet with Revier and his managers to see how the partnership can continue to grow.

Summer technical meeting:
Thank you for attending the retirement discussion at the Idaho Brewing Company on June 21, 2023. Over 40 people attended, and one 37-year-old, though we are still confirming that one!
Here’s a quick recap. The purpose of the meeting was to have Westmark share some important considerations as you retire. Financial planners Jeff Jones and Jaymie O’Rullian emphasized the importance of having important information like who the beneficiaries are for bank accounts, insurance policies, etc., passwords and wills, in a single place. Jeff noted that usually one spouse knows all this information and often they die first, leading others to scramble for this information. Jeff emphasized this is not a once and done but should be updated annually.
Jayme shared options for deciding when to take social security benefits and managing Required Minimum Distributions. He noted they have calculators available to help members make these decisions.
Jeff and Jayme agreed to provide a transcript of the meeting and we will send this out to all members. They are also interested in your ideas for presentations on other topics for future meetings.
